What is the PPSP Stories Project?
The PPSP Stories Project highlights Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania's critical impact through individual, personal stories from current and former staff, board members, patients, volunteers, and other community members.
Given the enormity of the challenges Planned Parenthood faces, and the relentless attacks on sexual and reproductive health at local, state, and Federal levels, it is more important than ever that we stand strong with our communities. In turn, we ask our patients and supporters to share why they stand with us.
This is an opportunity to celebrate all that we have accomplished together -- and all that we must work together to protect.
We celebrate the diversity of our communities throughout Philadelphia, Delaware, Montgomery, and Chester Counties, and will emphasize the array of racial, cultural, gender, sexual identities and lived experiences of our multi-generational supporters.
Whose stories do you want? What kind of stories are you looking for?
This project will represent the widest, deepest reach of Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania throughout the four counties we work in—Philadelphia, Delaware, Montgomery and Chester Counties.
Whether you came to PPSP for health care, were helped by our education programs, or took part in our organizing work, we seek stories from individuals 18 and older that capture the breadth of how communities use Planned Parenthood. We are also interested in learning about the impact of PPSP’s services on you, your family, and your communities.
As you think about your own experience and story, here are some details to consider sharing:
If you came to PPSP for a service, what was it?
What stood out about your experience?
What’s the most important thing you want to share about your encounter with us?
What role does Planned Parenthood play in your life now?
Why is Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania important to you?
How do I submit a story?
Submissions can be made here.
Submissions will require completion of self-identifying info, along with a release form.
Stories will be reviewed by PPSP’s Development staff on an ongoing basis during an open review timeline during February through August 2022.
Stories will be uploaded to this website by Development staff—content will not automatically be public-facing.
How will you use my story?
We understand how personal and private your experience is. It is an act of generosity to share your story with us, and we want to ensure that you feel respected and appreciated.
If selected, your story will be published on this website. Your submission may be used alone or together with other materials, and PPSP may shorten or use only part of your submission. PPSP may also decide not to use your submission.
Please keep in mind that your story — including your name if you provide it — may appear in public advocacy projects.
Even if you do not provide your name, remember that some information can reveal who you are, such as unusual details about you or others. You may opt to use a pseudonym, should you so choose.
By submitting, you will also be giving your permission to use your submission or any portion of it in current or future promotional materials and in fundraising, advocacy, or media outreach projects and materials, including sharing your words publicly with a variety of audiences, media, or publications, including the press, and in multiple media formats.
We may share your submission, in whole or in part, without contacting you further; however, PPSP may also contact you for further details or further authorization or with questions about your submission.
How are you inviting stories? How will you ensure you invite diverse voices?
